Houses of Parliament Trip
The HPACH School Council had the most amazing time visiting the Houses of Parliament this week , they had a tour of the building and the children were able to walk through the King’s entrance to the building, which is not open to the public! They had the opportunity to see King Charles’ robing room and the King’s gallery. They even learnt a fun fact, that any of the carpet that was blue the King and Queen were allowed to walk there. So they were practically walking in their footsteps! They then went into the House of Lords where they saw the King’s seat and learned all about how debates work within Parliament. The Prime Minister writes the speech for the King to read when he opens parliament. Unfortunately, they were unable to go into the House of Commons due to the Prime Minister’s question time - although, they did get to see him driving in. Later, they saw the oldest part of the building which they found out was where Henry VIII loved to play tennis when he was living there also where Queen Elizabeth II was laying inwaiting.
